Baller cragginshred Posted August 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2014 I cut the material (pictured) that is peeling away on my rear boot liner. I was mildly concerned the foam without this material might not release my foot? what do you all think?? It was way more comfy skiing today with out this material bunching up in the boot. Just trying to make it last through Oct. I have a replacement but this one is broke in!
Baller A_B Posted August 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2014 The boot will stay on and pull out of your binding. At least mine does, and so has my ski partner's. I believe they are designed that way.
Baller davemac Posted August 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2014 To quote the Black Knight...."its just a flesh wound". Your loyalty towards that liner is admirable.
Baller MattP Posted August 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 9, 2014 @davemac you should see my liner. @webbdawg99 can attest that I'm very loyal to it..
Baller webbdawg99 Posted August 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 10, 2014 At this point, @MattP's liner is more duct tape than actual liner
Baller davemac Posted August 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 10, 2014 a prominent skier/coach was at our lake last weekend. I marveled that his liner is 75% held together with "Alabama Chrome"
Baller cragginshred Posted August 11, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted August 11, 2014 This is where I am coming from! I trimmed the peeling material and it works just fine. Duct tape will be next!
Baller Roger Posted August 12, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2014 The liner comes out with your foot. The release depends on the strip of material down the back of the liner and how it interfaces with the shell. As long as that strip is ok, you should be fine. Of course the other dependency is to have some elasticity left in the lace after putting on the system. You MUST have some give in the laces for the release to initiate. Baller chris_logan Posted August 13, 2014 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2014 I have cut out most of the material over the foam on my strada liner. Once I did that, it regained the comfort factor and looked better. I actually use my strada liner now with my R-style boot with a velcro strap around the top to keep it on (mainly because I'm cheap).
