Baller oldjeep Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 Been working with a guy who sells a seat lift on ebay for the older Malibus and he just built me a prototype for the 2011 and up seats. 4" tall which gets me above the windscreen in a VTX without the bolster and gives my 5ft 2 wife a decent seating position. Turned out pretty decent and has a little compartment built into it. No idea what the cost will wind up being, but he said he was putting the 2nd prototype on ebay Friday before doing a production run of them. http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260003.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260004.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260005.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260006.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260007.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260008.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260009.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260010.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260011.JPG http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/P6260012.JPG
Baller rodltg2 Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 That was complaint with my lxi. Felt like I was sitting on the floor. I simply used a throwable cushion for a boost. The flip up was too high. My next solution was getting a Nautique ! Lol. Looks great hope it worls for you
Baller bbruzzese Posted June 27, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 27, 2014 Out of curiosity...anyone feeling the need for a booster in the TXi's? Or did the upgrades over the LXi solve those issues.
Baller skibug Posted June 27, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 27, 2014 TXI's are definitely higher; but, I feel it could use another 2 -3 inches.
Baller 6balls Posted June 27, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 27, 2014 Txi, better. All he did for the booster is took the rails off the base and put 'em on a box. Less boost, but I did that myself in my '91 centurion years ago and color match painted it. Given it's lower profile and blends in, no one ever notices. The size of it speaks to how low the Lxi seat really is...and I find the Txi a huge improvement.
Baller oldjeep Posted June 27, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted June 27, 2014 The box is 4" and the pictures are on my 2012 VTX, so I assume it is more like a TXI than an LXI. My FIL has an LXI and the seat it that thing is way low. The same guy makes a boost for the 2010 and older style seat mounts, not as elaborate and it actually replaces the stock mount. It is also a 4" lift, so doing 4" on the newer boats may be overkill - but in the garage I like the height so far ;) http://oldjeep.com/images/Malibu/SeatBase/MalibuSeatBoost.jpg http://www.ebay.com/itm/Malibu-boat-driver-seat-lift-riser-4-inch-higher-than-original-CNC-machined-/171354618147?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item27e587f923&vxp=mtr&nma=true&si=j%252BSFovtILsoPOjjQQZLUvJe7%252BFI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Baller Chef23 Posted June 27, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 27, 2014 I drove a 2014 TXI this week in a tournament and the seating position was excellent. Much better than the 2007 LXI I drive at home. I really liked the way the 2014 TXI drove but the interior paled compared to the new Mastercraft I also drove.
