Baller skibug Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 Last night I removed some Dual Lock from a used 2013 Nano 1 I just purchased. In the process, a small splinter (maybe 3" long x 0.125" wide transverse to the axis of the ski) of top plate came up with it. It is not deep, maybe .020" - .030"; but, I still have a slight concern as to whether this has an impact on the integrity of the ski? The splinter actually lines up direction with the forward-left side insert of the rear binding plate. Sorry, I don't have pictures; but, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with removing Dual Lock?
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 Seen it happen before. And not just Goodes. The top sheet is just a graphic layer on top of the carbon top cap. You could fill that small void with some marinetex so it doesn't work its way loose over time. Or you could call Goode. I doubt if they'll replace it since it's used. But they will probably repair it for you.
Baller skialex Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 Do not worry, fill the void with 302 adhesive (A+B modified acrylate), wet sand it and it will be good for ever.
Baller skibug Posted June 26, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 @ShaneH , @skialex, thanks for the feedback. I did fill it with JB Water Weld last night, so it should be good to go. I was just making sure it wasn't an anomaly.
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted June 26, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2014 @skibug...Had this happen in small amounts with several different skis over the years...Just used JB Weld, sanded, and good to go...Seems some topsheets are more vulnerable than others.
