Baller bbruzzese Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 Hey just wondering if any of you have your kids in Reflex bindings and how they're working for them. My 10 yr old had his first ankle sprain yesterday...the kind that made me convert to the Reflex...I know they're expensive but from my own experience they've been well worth if for the safety factor. Thanks,
Baller elr Posted June 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2014 My son has been on Reflex/rtp both slalom and trick since he was your sons age. Never even had a tweak in 7 years. The initial cost gets amortized over the numerous times when you just have to buy a shell to take care of two events. Switched him over when I saw that Jay used the setup for Danyelle. Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted June 23, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted June 23, 2014 Yes, Reflex is very common for kids setups. Around 10yro or when they are in the 30 mph range is a good transition point. Just set the release to the recommended setting and should be good to go. If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding

Baller MattP Posted June 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2014 @bbruzzese check out OB4 Systems and my review before you make a purchase. Mike had experience with kids on the system.
Baller ScarletArrow Posted June 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2014 @SkiKolb has his son on the Reflex release after he broke his ankle last year... seems to be working well for him. He's 13 and skis 34mph.
Baller mmosley899 Posted June 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2014 @bbruzzese my kids started using the old OB4 type system over 15 years ago with no ankle or knee injuries since. They still compete using the OB4 system for all three events. As they grow, the only change to the system is new boots, since the boot plate is the same size for all, and then you adjust the spring tension for weight and height changes. The same boots can be used for different events. Also the same ski can be used by different kids with different boot sizes or foot forward, because the boot plates are all the same. Your Reflex boot will also fit on the OB4 boot plate. Jdubs
Use caution. There are plenty of advantages to hard-shell boots like reflex, but please make sure that you child is over 100 lbs as it would be a shame if your child was caused injury from not releasing - causing even worse injury. Baller Chef23 Posted June 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 23, 2014 My son has been on Reflex for about 5 years from the time he was skiing at about 30 mph. He probably weighed about 100 pounds. We are on his third boot as he has grown and he likes the way they feel and ski. Unfortunately we bought the last year of the 404 release so we will have to switch at some point which will defeat part of the purpose for going to Reflex as I will have to buy two new setups.
