Baller skierjp Posted June 21, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 21, 2014 When setting up Zero Off in a MC don't you have to select a prop? It kind of amazes me how everyone thinks they are smarter then the engineers that designed the boat, aka Marcus Brown !!!
Baller skierjp Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 Hard to believe they missed this in R@D. The MC has now been pulled from 3 tournaments that I know of. One was just yesterday
Baller Razorskier1 Posted June 22, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 @Kurt -- my lake went no wake due to flooding. Probably won't run the boat for another 2-3 weeks. This sucks. Thanks for the update. My dealer is working on getting me the .09 cup and the .065 cup to give a try.
E_T
The problem is obviously in the software. I bet you could get SCT or someone to re map it and you would gain 40+ Hp
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted June 22, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted June 22, 2014 The reality!! MC has had performance problems since moving over to ILMOR a couple years ago. Propellers wont fix under power or poorly calibrated engines. I really don't think this Thread would exist Had they stayed with Indmar! Just my opinion! Baller harrison Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 No zero off but my pcm gt-40 in my 1999 ski nautique is still sweet
Baller slow Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 Isn't the gt40 just 300 hp. Im amazed it the hole shot too
Baller Broussard Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 @harrison @slow It's all about wetted hull surface. The Prostar and Nautique 200 need a lot more power than a 196 to go the same speed. .
Baller 6balls Posted June 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted June 22, 2014 @slow 310 hp in the GT-40 in my 2000 SN 196. Love PP if ZO didn't exist. Hope MC finds an acceptable solution to the power issue on the 5.
Baller racerdjs Posted July 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 7, 2014 I just received from the MC factory a 14x13.0 110 Cup 3 Ski Pro V-3 and will report hopefully tonight if the weather cooperates.
Baller ForrestGump Posted July 7, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 7, 2014 But in switching to Ilmor, MC's powertrain warranty comebacks in the first 12 months dropped by 80%.
Baller racerdjs Posted July 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 8, 2014 Hole shot solved. The outs are very close to my 2011 Nautique. Faster acceleration and no adverse wakes while running 3-400 more rpm's.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted July 8, 2014 @racerdjs Report RPMs at 34.2 and 36 and WOT when you have a chance.
Baller racerdjs Posted July 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 8, 2014 34.2 was 3950-4050 depending on zero off adjusting for the skier. I will report 36 and WOT. My WOT without a skier, naturally, GPS was 42 with the OEM four blade. It looks like I have a version 3 manufactured July 1.
Baller webbdawg99 Posted July 9, 2014 Baller Share Posted July 9, 2014 We tried the suggested 3 blade on an MC we demo'd last weekend. Boat barely got to 36 at the pre-gates....and this is NOT a short set up. Other times the boat would surge right before the gates. Went as far as to test it with plus setting on and off. The only noticeable difference was that the plus setting throttled the skier more when loading in the course. This REALLY confused me bc my understanding was that the plus setting was only supposed to be an increased entrance speed. Maybe the boat couldn't get it done and was making up later. I have no idea.....but the speed of the boat coming into the course was inconsistent. As far as steering goes....I think I've figured it out. In my opinion, there is a lag in response from driver input on the wheel to boat response. B/c of this, you need to be 1/2 step ahead of the skier to not get behind. When I would torque the rudder a little earlier, I found that less input was in fact better....but it had to be done earlier than with other manufacturer's boats. Baller Razorskier1 Posted July 9, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted July 9, 2014 3 blade Acme works well. Runs 4000rpm at 36mph, not sure where it is at 34.2. Acceleration is good and the boat still feels great when you are behind it. Tough thing for MC in general is that this boat came to market with such high expectations that it is being scrutinized for every small detail, and a couple of details still need tweaking. I suspect MC has solutions already in the works to resolve these issues. In the meantime, it remains the nicest pull I've felt yet on ZO.
