Members JAS
Looks like HO went deeper, shorter, and greater DFT with fin setting for the 2014 S2. Pretty big changes, any thoughts?
ToddF
Is there a difference between the 2013 and 2014 S2's? I thought it was basically the same ski carried over? There is a big difference on their website 6.88-2.490(13) and 6.835-2.51(14)
Baller Stevie Boy Posted September 16, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 16, 2014 I ended up with 6.841 - 2.508 - .775 I like it lots, they made some changes for 2014, so much so that Will Asher and some others, were actually skiing on the 2014 S2 at 36mph and enjoying it. Enter the V Type, from what I understand, front end S2 and rear end A3 or something along those lines.
Baller jlittle Posted March 24, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 24, 2015 I'm pushing this to the top only because I'm going to get to play with the 2014 S2 in the coming weeks. A 65.5 for me. What I'm wondering about is binding position. I'll set everything up stock at first but if I move the bindings what direction might be a good first move? Obviously skiing on it will tell me the most so I'm probably jumping the gun here a little The bindings already seem farther forward on the 2014 than the other years. That and wing angle has changed a fair amount too for the S2.
Baller RichardDoane Posted March 25, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 25, 2015 @jlittle - after you ride that S2, you should try my Green 66 Vapors, they'll kick the sheep dip out of that HO
Baller Stevie Boy Posted March 25, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 25, 2015 Nothing wrong with that Ho, I was given various fin settings from some pro,s which were quite radical in comparison to stock, I ended up at depth 2.508 length 6.835 and DFT .775 pretty much stock I believe, love the ski, staying with it, unless something happens to it, damaged etc. @richarddoane different skis suit different people for many reasons, what is good for someone is not necessary good for somebody else, enjoy your Green Vapor, I will enjoy my HO. Members bigtex2011
@richarddoane that made my giggle. I ride a Vapor as well
Baller jlittle Posted March 25, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 25, 2015 @richarddoane the Vapor is definitely on the short list. After riding "the pink" last year in the tournament for one round I took notice. Skied it right up to my average IIRC. I keep trying to get Farley down to the 66" range so we can test skis together but he apparently can't lay off the ice cream & doughnuts. My interest in the S2 stems from a tournament trip to SW Idaho last year and also the fact you don't see many 2014 S2s for sale. Either they didn't build very many or no one is wanting to give them up. The Vapor and a couple other skis are very similar in that regard. My main reason for this post was binding position, and I'm still curious about that, but I was comparing the flex numbers with my older A2 last night and boy are they different. Not that I could tell you what they mean. I'll just ski it for a little bit this spring and see.
Baller RichardDoane Posted March 26, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 26, 2015 @jlittle - I've had the last couple rides on 67" skis, makes it a little easier on the body, so the 66" may be for sale
Baller Stevie Boy Posted March 26, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 26, 2015 My bindings were stock I think 29.5 Here are some numbers I was given by some Pro,s Bindings 29.5 length 6.90.3 depth 2.48.8 dft .755 Bindings at 29 3/8" rear heel. Tail .790 Depth 2.485 Length 6.875 over all with tips 8deg wing I started to ski well with stock settings, so didn't actually try settings stated above I might this summer. Baller RichardDoane Posted March 26, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 26, 2015 @jlittle - we moved our first Broho tourney off of Memorial Day weekend just for you ! It's now the weekend of June 6/7 BTW, make sure it gets on your calendar
Baller savaiusini Posted March 26, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 26, 2015 @JAS from 2013 to 2014 we added speed skin to the ski which created some lift. As a result, the deeper shorter fin made a little more sense. Easy there @richarddoane... you're comparing a Lamborghini to a Ferrari. Both are very fine race cars ;) Sam Avaiusini - HO Sports Company - Director of Inside Sales and Business Operations
