Here's an exercise that I think can help Brian:

 

Put some very heavy rings on the ends of your fingers. Starting from a fist, move rapidly to an open hand. Then slowly close back to a fist. Do three sets of 10.

 

After a few weeks of doing this, I think Brian should be strong enough to let go of the handle.

 

But seriously, Congratulations to Brian!
