The managers of our coding dept got me a t-shirt with that on it:

The diagnosis is "burn due to water skis on fire" and is code V91.07XA

Priceless, eh? The number of diagnosis codes in ICD-9 is plenty...the number of codes in I(CD-10 is ridiculous. This will significantly complicate healthcare and also create significant inefficiencies that do not change in meaningful fashion the quality or cost of care being delivered. It will increase the cost of providing care, however, which in the end will increase cost to cover same. Brilliant.

Amazing. Are we sure these codes were not put together in a meeting in Denver - after pot was legalized? It must have been wicked fun putting these together and quenching their hunger with pizza.

In my engineering world, we have equipment failure codes, but learned decades ago that fewer and simpler and people will actually use them. Go figure.
