Baller ozski Posted January 31, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 31, 2014 I've been thinking about for a while, just for fun and just to remind us that we "once were warriors". What would the rules be, timber ski's pre 1980, adjustable bindings, speed control allowed? or hand or foot throttle and stop watches? Should the boats be old as well? The course should be all out of whack from one pass to the next as the bouys shift about.. I've seen a few old woodies on Ebay, just need to find a few brave skiers and a working Super 8 ... JamesW
No use thinking about it!!!!!!!!! Fred Williams ski ace 1961; My Fathers New Comp and Mum's Comp. They have flat undersides and are damn slippery. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz111/echotoo/56d85288-7b3f-456e-9ab3-178d36bd2d04_zpsd06eae97.jpg Ski boat, built from 59 and think it was running by 1960. http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/zz111/echotoo/P1080573_zps66a42fce.jpg
Baller Zman Posted February 1, 2014 Baller Share Posted February 1, 2014 I have often had the same idea. But, was only thinking maybe pre-1990's skis only. Maybe a tourny where all skis must be about 25 years or older. I would use my Mastercraft LaPoint asymmetrical ski, or Connelly Shortline. I think the Connelly Attack my not qualify as old enough. But, old wood skis would be bad ass. Drinking my be required.

Baller ozski Posted February 1, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted February 1, 2014 So when @Horton gets some water in the new lake the vintage comp should be an annual BOS event?
Baller nzwaterski Posted February 1, 2014 Baller Share Posted February 1, 2014 I'm sure this ski is capable of big things in a vintage comp . Oops can't seem to attach photos

Ryno
I've often thought it would be great to have a social ski comp where everyone uses the same stock combo ski... Though I haven't been brave enough to try one through the course yet. Also a practice run on the combo would be cheating and not in the spirit of the game, so you'd have to be careful in selecting your opening speed. Baller ozski Posted February 3, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted February 3, 2014 @JohnCox I think the Mahar might possibly be the subject of a technical challenge, they still make those things! And that KD leaning on the tree was a good stick back in the day!
Baller nzwaterski Posted February 4, 2014 Baller Share Posted February 4, 2014 Finally managed to upload. Want to give this ski a go I was given it a couple of years ago. Colin faulkner won the moomba masters in 1967 and placed 2nd in the world champs I'm guessing this would of been what he was using. Legend
