Baller Wish Posted December 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2013 If someone has a patent on "shaped" skies, doesn't that put a lot of designs in jeopardy. How many asymmetrical skies are being sold today?.
ampacdan
How about a patent on the concave waters ski. Does Michael Amsbry get a royalty for every ski sold? http://www.google.ca/patents/US3173161
mwetskier
so far every patent linked on this thread has long since expired and is public domain. i think a patent is good for like 20 yrs and cant be renewed after that. a friend of mine just told me the lapoint patent expired maybe around 2005 but was licensed by obrien back when they also the popular pulse model in the 1990s. not sure when that was but the pulse wasnt the asymetric one and the one that was asymetric didnt sell well. Baller A_B Posted December 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2013 Makes you wonder if some of the intent is ego, profit, or just bored and could do it? You don't see this stuff being made anywhere, kind of like buying up URL's for catchy names that don't even exist today, with the hope they will buy it off you later.... gator1
Less than 1% of all patents ever make any money for their inventor, either corporate or private. That data is from my patent attorney, as he was trying to comfort me over my hit rate.
Baller ForrestGump Posted December 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2013 Patents filed on or after June 8, 1995, have a 20 year term from the earliest filing date of the application. For patents filed prior to June 8, 1995, the term of patent is either 20 years from the earliest filing date or 17 years from the issue date, whichever is longer.
