so far every patent linked on this thread has long since expired and is public domain. i think a patent is good for like 20 yrs and cant be renewed after that. a friend of mine just told me the lapoint patent expired maybe around 2005 but was licensed by obrien back when they also the popular pulse model in the 1990s. not sure when that was but the pulse wasnt the asymetric one and the one that was asymetric didnt sell well.

Makes you wonder if some of the intent is ego, profit, or just bored and could do it? You don't see this stuff being made anywhere, kind of like buying up URL's for catchy names that don't even exist today, with the hope they will buy it off you later....
