kfennell
So out of the blue my throttle cable broke the other day, like we finished one skier and then it wouldn't go for the next one, whatever. I took the Throttle off the boat, and looked behind, and there is a brass piece that attaches the throttle lever to the throttle cable. It threads onto the end of the cable, then there is a threaded rod that sticks out of it and goes through the throttle lever, this piece broke. It looks like a $0.15 peiece if I knew where to locate one, but the dealer is saying that I have to buy a whole new cable. Any thoughts on this? I know I should have attached a picture, but its too fucking windy to get the cover off the boat, so that will have to wait.
Baller ForrestGump Posted December 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 6, 2013 You mean the pivot? Like this? http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=9535&familyName=Teleflex+Morse+Control+Cable+Pivots
kfennell
Yeah I think so, but I thought that little shaft was threaded, or else how does it attach to the throttle?
Baller ForrestGump Posted December 6, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 6, 2013 Typically there's a cotter pin or c clip that retains the pivot pin through the throttle arm. Maybe you didn't break it and just lost the retainer.
kfennell
Nah it broke, i saw the brass cylinder with the missing arm, I guess I just assumed that the arm was threaded from how it broke. Thanks for the help hopefully I can figure out the correct size to order now!
Baller DW Posted December 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 7, 2013 You might try to see what the Teleflex website might have as a parts breakdown. In addition to Jamestown, you could try DIM, iboat, Michigan Motorz, wholesale marine.
