Klundell
What are you doing to fill the competitive void that waterskiing winter brings? I did my first CrossFit competition this weekend and had a blast doing it. This is a video from one of the final events. 3 Cleans followed by 3 Muscle Ups 3rounds for time. HPskier1
Just joined title boxing tonight as an additional workout routine. Its not actually competitive boxing but as my wifes says I make everything in to a competition.
John Brooks
I have a list of competitive home improvements for the winter, but no video.
Razorskier1
@Klundell -- just started CrossFit training with Jenny Labaw 5 weeks ago. First, it is amazing how much change I've seen in that short time. Second, I am a long ways from being able to do some of the exercises I've seen in CrossFit competition. As my strength and flexibility improve, I think competing would be great! Maybe next winter!

Razorskier1
@Texas6 -- funny thing is I used to hurt more when I worked out on my terms. Of course my terms were lifting the heaviest weight you could for 4 reps and 4 sets on heavy days, and only a little less weight than that for 10 reps on light days. Due to the amount of weight and the repeated same movements, I hurt ALL THE TIME in the past. Of course, I also built up some serious power and endurance. HOWEVER, I think this training will make me a better skier, whereas the old training was just fun as hell. @OB -- I love you, but you have to quit telling me that you are still skiing!!!! Klundell
@mattp one of the events at the competition was a 500m row (one event) followed directly by a 5000m row (another event) on a concept 2. It sucked and was awesome all at the same time. I'm sure you would destroy me on one of those.
Baller MattP Posted November 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted November 28, 2013 I can't ski @OB took the boat away. Now OB has to take me to FL

Baller MattP Posted November 28, 2013 Baller Share Posted November 28, 2013 @Klundell I'm pretty sure you are a much stronger guy than myself, but I more than likely could give you a run for your money. Do you remember your times for the two pieces?
Klundell
@mattp I did the 500m in 1:39 (went pretty conservative because it was worth a lot less then the 5000m). I did the 5000 m in 20:08 they used the weight adjusted calculator so my time was pretty competitive. 15th out of 65.
ToddF
@mattp rowing is excellent almost as good as sprinting:) @klundell what weight do they use for the cleans? Does it vary?
Baller MattP Posted November 29, 2013 Baller Share Posted November 29, 2013 @klundell Nice scores. At least I know I can beat an open rated skier at something! I would not mind talking technique with you some time to get you more efficient on the machine. I have thought of reaching out to cross fit gyms to come in and coach them with their erging. Especially those that compete as teams in events. Could help bring in some extra money. thoughts? @toddf its better than sprinting. reason 1. ITS NOT RUNNING 2. It works every mussel in your body. 3. I can do it on the water! But what ever floats your boat!
Klundell
@mattp I would love some coaching on the erg! How about we do a coaches eye swap. Send me a video of your skiing I'll send you a video of me on the erg and we can analyze them and send them back.
Klundell
@toddf the cleans for this event were 185. The elite guys had to do 255! They were in a different division.
