Baller Stevie Boy Posted October 30, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2013 I have a question, when manufacturers, state there recommended, size ski for various weight ranges, I know that it can depend on speed and line length as well, but putting that aside, in what configuration would you need to be, ie: normal clothing, ski gear dry or ski gear wet, etc ? Baller Wish Posted October 30, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2013 I think they are "recommendations" as best they can factor. But, a few pounds of clothing would not make that big a difference wet or dry. I know my boot system weighs as much as the HO hardshell EXO system and that's a lot vs a pair of Basis boots (pounds difference). HO does not create a new chart for a particular sized ski based on the bindings weight differences. Simply put, try before you buy especially if you're on the edge on one size vs the other. I fall into that category it seems on every manufactures ski. Drives me nuts.
Baller A_B Posted October 30, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2013 I don't think there is a lot of science behind it. I skied a 67" (68") 9100/9500 from 185 up to about 235, which was well above the range. Out performed every 69" ski I tried.
Baller ral Posted October 30, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 30, 2013 It is a range, and height is a factor as well although not usually stated. Best thing is to contact the manufacturer with weight, height, speed, buoy count and age and get direct advise.
