Lake Mead Slalom Courses

Anyone know if there are any existing slalom courses on Lake Mead (Meade?)? Pilot buddy of mine is starting to fly into that area and asked If I could get any info from the Ballers on course skiing in that area. Thanks in advance for any info/input.

Ed, were's he flying into, Vegas? That's a big lake.

Yeah, he's flying into Vegas. Isn't there also a Malibu dealer in the Vegas area?

There is a Malibu Dealer outside of Henderson toward Lake Las Vegas. Not a lot of slalom around there though that I am aware of.

Lake Mead is a National Park managed by Feds. I am sure there are no courses. One time many

years ago a guy put up a portable course until the park rangers made him take it out of the water.

We dropped our portable course in around 15 times between 1995-2002 without any problem. We were in between Temple Bar Marina and the River inlet. Unless you drop out of the Temple Bar Marina and head East, you may have issues that Wolfeie brings up.

Appreciate the info guys, thank you. Over the years I've sold portables to folks who were either using them in Mead or were vacationing at Mead but didn't know if there were any courses permanently installed or not. I'll pass the info along, thanks again.

I may have seen your course in the back of Burro Bay in the mid-90's. Water is so low now

all thoses small coves to ski in are probably gone.

Mead doesn't allow permanent courses, but temporary courses are allowed if taken down at the end of the day. There is more detailed info on that in the official regulations.

 

I got to Lake Mead the day the government shut down.
