Baller gregy Posted September 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 18, 2013 @Horton what's the story? Saw a similar situation where a driver made a u-turn on a narrow lake and was paying more attention to his wakeboarder behind the boat than the dock in front. Baller Waternut Posted September 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 18, 2013 Looks like it ran up on the dock rather than a flood. You can see one of the boards kicked up at the prop and other boards kicked down. In all fairness, except for something right at the bow, the hull looks to still be in remarkable shape. Baller_ Wish Posted September 18, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted September 18, 2013 Koodose to the dock builder for building a brutally strong dock. No worries about to many people on the dock. Baller Skoot1123 Posted September 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 18, 2013 Looks more like a canal than a private lake. If the boat is ONLY used on a private lake, it may not need registration. But that Ball of Spray sticker is eerily close to where the ID numbers should be. If this boat really did run up on the dock, it would seem that there should be more than just the little brown mark on the front of the hull. Unless there was a ramp of some sort that it went over. Either way - OUCH!

Baller_ MISkier Posted September 19, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted September 19, 2013 I am going to go with mechanical failure on this one. Steering cable or throttle - something that gave the driver very little time to react. Also, I have to believe the speed was not exceptionally high. Otherwise, the boat would have cleared the dock and landed back in the water or up on the seawall. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears. Baller oldjeep Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 Hmm, how about a kid got in and hammered the throttle lever down when the boat was sitting right at the dock.
Baller_ Wish Posted September 19, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted September 19, 2013 Iddling up to the dock and the throttle gets bumped. I've see that happen in open water. With the DBWs, not a lot of pressure is needed to move that throttle.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 @horton - I'm assuming a safety lesson is involved with this one?
crashman
@wish exactly. I've bumped the throttle with my arm/shoulder in a Malibu reaching down to open the heater vent. It was thrilling especially for my ski partner.
Baller Waternut Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 I've pulled various throttles back with my knee when I go to adjust my position but so far haven't bumped one forward yet....thankfully. Very curious to hear the real story from those who do know. We've all made dumb mistakes...some are just more unlucky than others.
Baller robscholl-OF Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 Short story is owners are out of town and parents are staying at house taking care of their grandson. They go to take boat out on lake and next thing grandpa knows is boat is on dock. So thought is probably bumped or pushed throttle too hard causig boat to ramp up on dock. Boat suffed minor fiberglass damage, broken scag and cracked corner piece of windshield. Insurance is covering boat damage and the hope is homeowners covers dock. They got it off the dock by taking off scags and turning it around. They then winched it off. It was then driven under its own power to boat launnch. It is getting repaired now. The good part is nobody was hurt and everything broken can be repaired. As you can imagine grandpa feels horrible about it.......OF

Baller ForrestGump Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 Man, I'd have a better story than that. A water moccasin jumped over the transom and was striking at my legs causing me to spill my beer, thus knocking over the throttle. Or something such as that. Baller oldjeep Posted September 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 19, 2013 I'd go with - accidentally left the Perfect Pass on, grandpa was using a little bit of throttle and couldn't under stand why there was a beep followed by sudden acceleration .
