I mean, I assume he kept it in his boat, right? I should be running -41 by the end of the week!!

Anyhow, I now have a nice black/grey '07 Nautique with Zero Off. I also got a tiny but perhaps key insight into -39 from him. Looking forward to trying to figure it out this fall.

This also means my '05 Nautique (Perfect Pass) is officially for sale. As is in the fall, $23k. In the spring all shined up, I'll be fairly firm at $24k. I realize these prices are not a "deal," but I believe they are market prices for this area (New England). Send PM or email if might be interested. I'll try to get it on Ski-It-Again relatively soon (unless the guy I talked to on Saturday decides to buy it before I get to that!)

@davemac Yeah, very pleased with the simple white/black/touch-of-grey. I surprised myself how much I cared about color in getting a used boat. For some reason I don't want to own a red boat, maybe just because it's such a popular color? And so many of the newer boats are too flashy for me. Since I was perfectly happy with my '05, the bar was set high to find one that not only had ZO but that I really like the look of. Finally did! Yay!

Funny fact: The boat is in very good condition and beautifully tuned for slalom driving, but the trailer is both beat up and rusted/corroded in several places. (Do they get a lot of acid rain in mid NH? :) ) I actually may consider buying a new trailer at some point, but this one is serviceable for now.

@Chef23 Nope. Going to NH so I won't disturb the balance of ski boats in the two states :).

I mentioned on Sunday at Dubes that I was selling it, and later that same day, my soon-to-be-buyer was talking with Scott B and brought up that he was looking for a Nautique with PP. So naturally Scott said "hey, I know a guy selling one of those!"

@Doug Well, EZ is a relative term. Locally, the lowest offer for that I found was $7k. Jody was willing to do it for $5k, but getting the boat to him was almost as costly and not very practical (despite some AMAZING offers from some fellow ballers). If willing to do all the labor myself (and I wasn't), even the raw parts would be nearly $4k.

The problem with an 05 is that it's not drive-by-wire, so the entire throttle system has to be replaced before a ZO install can begin.

But THEN, that upgrade cost has been essentially thrown away, because the guy buying an '05 from you someday is probably not a hard-core tournament skier and places little-to-no additional value on ZO over PP. Whereas, a newer boat will continue to be worth more in resale (even though it does despreciate faster in absolute dollars).

So in the end, it was a pretty easy choice for my personal situation.

@Than_Bogan Moot point but you do not have to replace the mechanical throttle when you do a ZO conversion. My 02 196 still has the original throttle it was manufactured with. Additionally, I do not have the crappy, loose, unsafe feel of the modern digital throttle. Just saying! : )
