Baller eleeski Posted September 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2013 I was watching Weather Channel and swore I saw a quick picture of Laku. I hope everything is OK there. Best wishes and stay safe. Eric
mopowpow
I was also wondering how all the ski lakes have faired during the floods. Hope everything and everyone is OK! We were just in Colorado last week and were talking to people about a possible membership for next year. I'm guessing some of the sites along the Poudre River are flooded. I talked to someone who's family skis at Pelican Shores, their lake was 12' above normal. It sits next to the St. Vrain river in Firestone. Baller skier2788 Posted September 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 14, 2013 Tried to go by laku yesterday and cant get within 3 miles of it because of water. Some may know lake madison or triple R in Greeley. They are completely under water by a half mile to shore line. Im currently sitting at my lake. All roads closed around me. I got plenty of fuel and glass water. Feel bad for everyone that got flooded out. Will be a long time before things are normal around here again. h2oski
Water was higher over Laku than it has ever been, over both docks. We won't know the damages until the water subsides. This picture is what you would see if you were walking off the lake 1 dock for those of you that are familiar with the site.
Baller SkiJay Posted September 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2013 To all the Colorado skiers affected by the flooding, the members of Calgary's Predator Bay Ski Club feel your pain and wish you a speedy and full recovery from the flood damage. Our recovery efforts brought us closer together as a club and we've come away from the unfortunate experience with a heightened appreciation for our facility, our sport and our resilient group of members. As with most loss, there is also opportunity for gain.
Baller Drago Posted September 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 15, 2013 I'm on the other side of the Continental Divide, but what I've seen is major, major stuff. Hopefully it's "just" the ski lakes and not houses, trailers, boats.

swardco
As a lifelong Coloradan, I can definitely say I've never seen anything like this. Basically a years worth of rainfall in a few days. Seems like it will take a few years to fully repair all the damage. The roads in many of the canyons west of Boulder and further north are devastated. Our particular little ski lake is ok, absolutely full and spilling, but ok. Not sure when the road all be dry enough to use.
Baller colo_skier Posted September 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 17, 2013 @swardco, If you get the fever and need a fix come on down to Pueblo and get some sets in with us. Glad the lake is OK. Laku looks pretty much out of commission for a little while.
