Baller ForrestGump Posted August 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2013 Preliminary pricing has already been given to dealers and is basically the same as the current 197.

Baller Murrski Posted August 11, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted August 11, 2013 @ShaneH @Horton - I haven't been in the market for a MC so I'm not aware of 2013 pricing but from what I can see on 2013 used - I'm guessing around $60k for new. Is that a good ballpark?
Baller Chef23 Posted August 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2013 I don't get why list price is such a secret for boats.
Administrators Horton Posted August 11, 2013 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2013 I know this - The ProStar will be more than the Malibu and less than the 200. Baller skibug Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 Well, I price a loaded 2013 Malibu TXI and a bare bones SN200 earlier this year when we were in the market. The loaded Malibu w/trailer was ~$55K; the SN200 was ~$65K; so I am guessing somewhere in the $55K to $60K with middle of the road options. Baller RazorRoss3 Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 No mystery why the used boat market is so good. Still can't wait to ski behind one though.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 Still too much for me right now. But I'm still excited for the MC team and for skiing since this boat looks like they really hit one outa the ball park.
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 I'm not sure on the price, and I'm sure @shaneh is correct on his pricing. But I am curious, why would MC bring out a new boat that has all this R&D and great design and not raise the price. If pricing is the same as the 197, why would they just kill the 197 market. If the new boat is priced the same or close to a 197, who would buy it?
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 So are you saying they should raise the price above the normal 3-4% yearly increase just so it's higher than the boat it's replacing? They never wanted t to be in the 200 price range. Plus, even though they spent a lot of R&D, it's been 13 years since the 197 was introduced so the 197s R&D was done and paid for many, many years ago. The only 197s really effected are the '13s which are still unsold and typically MC will offer the dealers and promo owners an additional discount to help move those. Baller Not_The_Pug Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 I'm not saying to raise the price and I wish boat price's would drop, but I don't see it happening. But if we go with your logic of the R&D was paid for long ago, MC has been overcharging for old technology for years? All I'm saying is logically if a new designed boat comes out (any manufacture), I would expect a price increase at least in MSRP.
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 I didn't say MC had been overcharging for old technology. I said the R&D were sunk costs that were accrued and then depreciated over a 3 or 5 year period. So after 13 years, they don't necessarily have to offset that with a higher cost on a newly R&D'd boat. Without knowing the new boats sunk costs, as well as production costs and SG&A attributed to an individual production unit, we can't even begin to guess as to how they can keep the pricing static. But that was their original goal and what they seem to have accomplished.
E_T
@shaneH don't you know that wakeboard boats are keeping the ski industry alive. Next time you see some guys in a new 120k X-Star thank them don't hate them
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 12, 2013 @E_T I moonlight at times for my best friend's Mastercraft and Nautique dealership. Believe you me, I know how that is! Nothing like a customer dropping $135 large on an X-Star(120k would be cheap for the new one!) or $140 large on a G25 to help out your pocket book. Baller Ham_Wallace Posted August 13, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 13, 2013 The Malibu is the better deal. Coupled with the huge fuel savings, it adds up.

Baller EricKelley Posted August 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 18, 2013 I heard from a promo person their cost would be about 55K. So do the math on the retail price. 70 plus?
Baller ForrestGump Posted August 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 18, 2013 At least in our area, retail price means nothing. It's such an inflated price(from both MC and CC) and the dealers are selling no where close to retail. MC told us 3% over current 197 pricing, which will put it squarely between the TXI and the 200. I know my best friend sells non promo new 197s to skiers now for less than $60k. And with the new boat being so modular, you're going to see big deltas in price based on how many of the packages someone orders. I know what our promo team 200 costs us and it's not even $55k. Baller EricKelley Posted August 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 19, 2013 Hard to give an exact price because of options. A SN 200 could be 10k above a base Nautique if you add 6liter open bow, team package, stereo upgrade, metalflake, etc......
Baller skiboat38 Posted August 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 27, 2013 @shane.....you either have a completely stripped promo or are talking about under 55 after your credits are added and if you pull it very far they don't add up. A Team CB is more than that! (your contract prohibits you from discussing it also)
