Well, I price a loaded 2013 Malibu TXI and a bare bones SN200 earlier this year when we were in the market. The loaded Malibu w/trailer was ~$55K; the SN200 was ~$65K; so I am guessing somewhere in the $55K to $60K with middle of the road options.

I'm not sure on the price, and I'm sure @shaneh is correct on his pricing. But I am curious, why would MC bring out a new boat that has all this R&D and great design and not raise the price. If pricing is the same as the 197, why would they just kill the 197 market. If the new boat is priced the same or close to a 197, who would buy it?

So are you saying they should raise the price above the normal 3-4% yearly increase just so it's higher than the boat it's replacing? They never wanted t to be in the 200 price range. Plus, even though they spent a lot of R&D, it's been 13 years since the 197 was introduced so the 197s R&D was done and paid for many, many years ago. The only 197s really effected are the '13s which are still unsold and typically MC will offer the dealers and promo owners an additional discount to help move those.

I'm not saying to raise the price and I wish boat price's would drop, but I don't see it happening. But if we go with your logic of the R&D was paid for long ago, MC has been overcharging for old technology for years? All I'm saying is logically if a new designed boat comes out (any manufacture), I would expect a price increase at least in MSRP.

I didn't say MC had been overcharging for old technology. I said the R&D were sunk costs that were accrued and then depreciated over a 3 or 5 year period. So after 13 years, they don't necessarily have to offset that with a higher cost on a newly R&D'd boat. Without knowing the new boats sunk costs, as well as production costs and SG&A attributed to an individual production unit, we can't even begin to guess as to how they can keep the pricing static. But that was their original goal and what they seem to have accomplished.

@E_T I moonlight at times for my best friend's Mastercraft and Nautique dealership. Believe you me, I know how that is! Nothing like a customer dropping $135 large on an X-Star(120k would be cheap for the new one!) or $140 large on a G25 to help out your pocket book.

At least in our area, retail price means nothing. It's such an inflated price(from both MC and CC) and the dealers are selling no where close to retail. MC told us 3% over current 197 pricing, which will put it squarely between the TXI and the 200. I know my best friend sells non promo new 197s to skiers now for less than $60k. And with the new boat being so modular, you're going to see big deltas in price based on how many of the packages someone orders. I know what our promo team 200 costs us and it's not even $55k.

@shane.....you either have a completely stripped promo or are talking about under 55 after your credits are added and if you pull it very far they don't add up. A Team CB is more than that! (your contract prohibits you from discussing it also)
