Baller MattP Posted July 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2013 @Horton just not the medical bills? Wait... Never mind... Dads a doctor... I hope he's alright and props to the swimmers who were in the water super fast.
jwr
He did a good job getting his skis back under him. Not that easy to do with the new jumpers.
Baller ForrestGump Posted July 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2013 Ouchie. That was a big one. Watched a kid go out the front yesterday and it certainly wasn't pretty.

Baller BlueSki Posted July 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2013 Steven Seagal must have delivered a roundhouse kick at the base of the ramp. If Chuck Norris had delivered the kick, he would have flown for a new world record.
Baller Wish Posted July 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2013 That was impressive that the safety crew was that alert and on it before he hit the water.
jwr
As a jumper, I personally don't like a safety crew on top of me after a crash. Let me check things out first before you get up in my face. Especially a crash like that, where you get your skis back under you. They typically don't hurt, just make you mad and the last thing I want is someone right on top of me. Now if you want to swim my skis back to me, I do appreciate that, or if I'm no respondent I do appreciate getting my face pulled out of the water. skiray
I'm not a jumper. But, it would have been awesome if he could have rotated just a little more and landed that one.....
Baller ozski Posted July 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2013 Sooner or later that ramp is going to bite you, its a young mans sport.

jwr
Life without jumping sucks. I've don't it. Hope it's awhile before I do it again. Slalom is harder on my body then jump.
Baller RichardDoane Posted July 20, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 20, 2013 @jwr - jumping is more addictive than slalom

Brady
Okay, so I will drink the jumping kool aid. Where in Utah can I go jump? I want to test @richarddoane and see if the addiction is real. (I really can't imagine anything being more addicting than slalom!) If I can find a site, I will record and post my first jump for all to see. GAJ0004
Was he okay after the jump? I took up barefooting instead of jumping..
Baller RichardDoane Posted July 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 22, 2013 @brady - most jumpers will loan you some gear to get you hooked, I learned at age 41, it's all @krlee 's fault
Brady
@richarddoane I would love to try it. I have no idea where to go or what to do, but one thing I have is zero fear! I just don't see how it can get you hooked more than skiing does. I am still planning on coming up to see you this year, so maybe I will try it at broho. Baller jlittle Posted July 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 22, 2013 @Brady if you're serious, and you've never done it, do yourself a favor and learn correctly from the start. Maybe go spend a week at Borderline in Washington with the Goodman's. That'd be an excellent start.
Baller RichardDoane Posted July 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 22, 2013 @brady - just do it like the college kids who're getting instruction as they put on the helmet, and then it's off you go and roll the cameras......
Baller MattP Posted July 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 22, 2013 @richarddoane that's how I learned.
jwr
Better then me, I started on a pair of water logged cypress garden jumpers that didn't float. The binder were so big I had to wear three pairs of socks so the skis wouldn't fall off. I had like a foam helmet that wouldn't protect you from anything and a pair of blue jeans shorts for jump shorts. No off the side either, just straight over the top to start out. Of course the guy under the ramp, always thought it was funny to hit you right in the face with a bucket of water as you came off. Hind site the blue jeans shorts were a waste of time, because I landed on my head every time any way. I would have to swim down and pull my skis up to the surface. Just about killed me, the skis weighed more then I did. Did I mention this was behind a 24" SeaRay cuddy cabin. The 70's were great.

Baller Jody_Seal Posted July 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 22, 2013 @Brady, They used to have a jump at Sun ten! I think that is where this photo was taken! However I remember going down their in the mid 80's and skiing all three events.
Brady
@Ski4xtc Can I get on your course to jump and film it and see if it is as good as everyone is saying?

jwr
@tbrenchley I would think so, it didn't look like much. He got his skis back under him before the landing. Those usually don't hurt.
