dmoline
Hi guys...looking for some advice on bindings. I am pretty new (mostly open water for a summer), just starting to learn the course but am very serious about improving. I am 200 lbs, been skiing a 68" HO S1 with double Attack boots, but decided I like the feel of a RTP much better and am concerned about injury with a non-release binding since I like to push my limits a bit. I am looking at getting into a hardshell and my priority is safety first, performance second. I am willing to spend the cash for the right setup, and after reading up quite a bit I am zeroed I on the FM Revo and Reflex. Reason being, I like the concept of the silveretta release system versus other release systems for a RTP. I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum, and am hoping to get some feedback...anyone have experience with one or both setups? Any difference in build quality? Any advice is much appreciated...thanks in advance!
Baller BraceMaker Posted March 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 23, 2013 Have you considered one of the types where the boot stays on the ski and the liner comes out with your foot? Such as the Radar RS-1/Strada style boots? These have some advantages such as $, and set it/forget it. There is another thread going right now with some discussion on the silvretta bindings. dmoline
I am definitely considering that as well. I do like to set my binding tighter on the top of my foot, but looser on the ankle which is partly why I was looking at hardshell for that flexibility. Does the Strada boot allow for separate tightening of the foot and ankle? Still ok to release if I snug the top of my foot?
Baller BraceMaker Posted March 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 24, 2013 Its elastic cord. If you like it loose somewhere put a few twists in the cord and relace it - the laces will draw tight till the twists and hold it. Work the laces to the tension you like.
