Baller_ Wish Posted February 23, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted February 23, 2013 Well, over the years Ive taught many age levels to ski for the first time. Loved every minute of it. Today was the first time I've ever taught someone that spoke very limited english. He is a foreign exchange student (20yr old) from Japan. Thing about teaching someone with limited english is how much they take everything so literal. But with his perseverance, lots of visual modeling by us, we had great success as he made it around the lake. The video now on his phone will be shown to his family and friends for a lifetime bringing our sport global. He also got a chance to see some buoy chasing that he had never seen before. Pretty sure that that phone vid will get played to his Family and Friends back in Japan as well. Was a fun day.
Baller Brady Posted February 25, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 25, 2013 @Wish Last summer I taught a kid who was a foreign exchange student from Syria. He didn't speak much English as well. Had to show him everything instead of talking with him. Good thing skiing is universal, like math!
