Baller ToddL Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 Do current model reflex shells tend to size a little small/tight, just right, or a little large/loose? I am right in between two shell sizes and am not sure which size I should look for. (FYI - My shoe size is 10 to 10.5 US. I measured my foot length, L = 10.5", R=10.8". I don't like to have the tips of my toes touching the inside front of a binding.)
Baller MattP Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 I take it you are between an 8 and 10? I squeeze into an 8 with a size 10 foot. It's tight and I have to keep my big toe nail trimmed or I will loose it from it jamming into the front of the binding. The 12 is a big binding. I guess you can go up a size and use the thicker liner. I see you posted both foot sizes. Ate you wanting to do a double reflex set up?
Baller ForrestGump Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 I were a 10 1/2 shoe and am using a size 10 shell. Fits just fine.
Baller Stevie Boy Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 I have the same diliema foot 10" long ideal for a 6 shell but my foot size, due to width, 41 or size 9US or 8UK which is 8 shell, tried the 8 shell before, leaves a lot of room in front of toes, hence when tightening front clip plastic boot digs into, your foot, thick liners might help How thick are the thick liners, also looking at the liners sold by fluidmotion (jaeger) are they thicker than the thick, reflex liners ? Baller Waternut Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 I'm guessing liners play a huge role in the boot size. @MattP You use one of the thin moldable liner right? Would you be able to squeeze into that boot with the thick liner? I'm using the 10 boot with a 9-9.5 size foot and there is virtually no wiggle room but I don't know if the boot will break in over time.
Baller ToddL Posted January 26, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 Probably only do a front boot/RTP setup. But I was just listing both feet sizes to learn more about how each would work... The shorter foot is the front.
Baller Waternut Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 Shoot @jdarwin a message. He hooked me up with my boots. He sells the Masterline Quantum boots which are basically the same thing as the Reflex but cheaper.
Baller BraceMaker Posted January 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 If you form your liners i highly recommend a toe cap to make big toe room. Just wrap some gauze over your toes, sock up and form. Should help avoid toe pressures my squishing the liner.
Baller ToddL Posted January 26, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted January 26, 2013 @BraceMaker, yep. Did that with my radar inserts. Works well!
Baller Chef23 Posted January 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2013 I am a 10.5 and I have a 10 shell. I tried an 8 and it was way too tight.
Baller MattP Posted January 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2013 @jfw432 yeah the thin one. The thicker one was not offered when I got mine. Liners are a personal choice so use which ever ones, goode, fm, reflex ect. I sorta went a size down so that the binding would be more snug and I felt with the thinner liner that I would be less connected to the ski with the size 10. Baller BraceMaker Posted January 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2013 There's quite a bit of extra length, If the shell is too short I feel like the ball of my foot gets pretty cramped, even with heat formed liners.
Baller Deanoski Posted January 27, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 27, 2013 Im a 10 1/2 and use the 8 shell with a size 6 or small liner heat mold it with a toe cap and a sock. I have no big toe issues and plenty of room, and the liner is nice and thin with great feel. its a nice tight fit I hate loose boots for snow skiing or water sking boots Deano
