footloose42
The rear screw on my 2010 A1 fin block has become stripped. Can someone suggest where I can get a new screw? It's been removed from the fin, so it's not stuck.
Baller BraceMaker Posted January 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2013 The threads on the screw are stripped or the threads in the block? If the block's threads are stripped you'll need to drill it and tap it for a larger screw. Is this a clamp screw or a set screw?
footloose42
no the hole for the hex key on the screw is stripped. The block is fine. http://i.imgur.com/SXldj.jpg
Baller BraceMaker Posted January 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2013 Ah - http://www.mcmaster.com/#set-screws/=l18dvk Or your local hardware store. If the screw is not out then take a Torx bit and beat it in and turn the screw out, probably throw away the torx bit afterwards to avoid stripping a torx screw. Baller BraceMaker Posted January 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2013 Not the only source - but the search engine is worth it, and you can buy 1 or 3, or 100.

Baller DW Posted January 14, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 14, 2013 You might also want to consider alternate materials, brass and stainless are less prone to corrosion which is probably a potential culprit. Use some anti sieze when installing.
Baller Waternut Posted January 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 15, 2013 If you buy them local, makes sure it's not zinc plated or plain steel. Either of those will create a big problem later. If you can't find one locally and you can't get from HO for next to nothing, I would go the McMaster Carr method. They ship fast and you'll have plenty if this happens again to you or a friend. Heck you're in Atlanta...go to Mcmaster after work and pick one up.
Administrators Horton Posted January 15, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 15, 2013 I use a nut and bolt store. I change hardware any time I see any corrosion or such. Baller gregy Posted January 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 15, 2013 If you can tell me the length and thread I can send you a stainless steel set screw. You in the states?
