May need brackets though.. We built one out of cypress for my '78 SN. Back then, a lot of ski boats didn't have platforms. We just pulled ourselves up over the side. Baller BraceMaker Posted January 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 9, 2013 And of course back then you had simple rubber binders that were easy to pull on in the water. Post what your boat is - there are many easy ways to do this, and a few harder ones - all methods assume you are OK with drilling some holes in your boat. Firstly - you'll need brackets if your boat doesn't have them - the best I've seen are the OJ folding ones (makes it easy to fold/remove the platform for putting the boat into the garage) http://www.skiertoskier.com/images/OJ/FoldingPlatform.jpg (Note picture is from skiertoskier.com - they normally can source these folding brackets for you - others on here might want some anyhow) Then you need to figure out how and wear you can screw these into your boat with out drilling holes into anything important (like a gas tank) or tearing a hole out of your hull. Once you do that you just need to find something to bolt to the brackets, can even be 2 layers of 3/4" marine plywood, so long as you seal the wood up (rhinoliner?) Baller Ham_Wallace Posted January 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 9, 2013 I built one for my 66 Nautique with 2 3/4' pieces of marine plywood glued and screwed together, cut, shaped and the edges rounded. Then, I took it to a fiberglass shop and a friend wrapped it in fiberglass and gel coated it. Then I put boat carpet on it. Found some old MasterCraft platform brackets and voila. That was in 1997.
