Baller ral Posted December 25, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 25, 2012 I have a "classic" (i.e. old) boat with a 1991 135 HP Mercury Black Max. Last year, the RPM indicator stopped working ( it is getting power, as when ignition is off, it points to 900 RPM, and when on, it goes to zero. During last year's maintenance, the mechanic made it work again, and it was working until today. I assume it is a loose connection. Anyone can point out where to look at? Baller Waternut Posted December 25, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 25, 2012 I think it's probably just a loose/corroded wire or the gauge face is interfering with the needle. I don't think it has anything to do with it being a 2 stroke though.
Baller Jordan Posted December 25, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 25, 2012 Likely a bad ground.
Baller ral Posted December 25, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted December 25, 2012 Thanks. Found it. I was a bad contact in the grey cable that attachs to the rectifier (see pic). Internet is great,
