Baller DkLkSkr Posted December 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2012 Anyone running this setup? Is this binding too stiff for this setup? I run double stradas and like the release from them. I want to put this setup on another ski for another person and they a comfortable with a RTP. I think the release would work with a rtp but wanted to see if anyone had first hand knowledge. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 11, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted December 11, 2012 just don't over tighten the laces and it should be good 2 go
Baller Chef23 Posted December 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2012 I run the Strada with a RTP and it has been a great combo for me. We have two people on our lake running that and neither of us have had any trouble.
Baller Razorskier1 Posted December 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 11, 2012 I have been using that setup since 2008, as has my son. Works great and releases when you need it to.
FrankS
I dont use it but I am interested in that setup as well. Let me know how it works if you try it.
Baller rayn Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 Works for me.
Baller A_B Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 My friend is running a Strada Front with RTP and he has ejected clean out of them several times.. He has a terrible habit of overloading his front foot on his offside turn and he just popped right out, boot and all a few times too. He broke his front ankle years ago on an O'brien/Goode front rubber boot, doing the same thing.
Baller DkLkSkr Posted December 12, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 Thanks All! I figured this would be just fine. The proshop I was dealing with tried to talk me out of it and I wanted to get more input. Should have trusted my gut!
Baller The_MS Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 Anyone use a Strada with a Wiley Rear? Thoughts?
Baller Chef23 Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 @MS I don't use that combo but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I would think you would release out of the Wiley like you do out of the Strada rear. I have seen plenty of Reflex/Wiley combos and they seem to work fine. Baller The_MS Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 @Chef I tried the Stradas front and rear but had problems keeping my tip down when I come back to the handle. I was thinking that it may have been back boot related since I have always used a rear wileys.
Baller Chef23 Posted December 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 12, 2012 @MS I think you can get your feet closer together with a Wiley rear than with a Strada rear that might be part of the issue with keeping the tip down.
Baller tfriess Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 @chef23 mine are touching and I'm not sure they can get any closer than that.
Baller A_B Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 When I ran powershells, I cut the front off the back boot to snug them up a little more. I have always had my back toes up on the front boot. I have not trimmed the Stradas yet, but have thought of it. I am actually thinking of trying the rtp again, with a modified heel cup so my heel doesn't move around. I lift my back heel up, but with a rtp, it moves side to side for some reason, and it makes me feel unsecure.
Baller Chef23 Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 @tfreiss I understand that your Stradas are touching. My point is that you can't get your feet as close together with Stradas because of the shell and liner as you can with a RTP or Wiley.
Baller BraceMaker Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 @chef23 - I've measured my large Wiley's Ankle to Ankle - For my 11.5's the larges don't let my feet get that close, I think if you had larger feet they may, but 11.5 is supposedly the top of the size large range. So going forwards from there my supposition is that Wileys aren't actually able to go that close together, and that many of the hardshells can get quite close - BUT - depends on where you fall with in the size range and fit of the shells. If that computes.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 13, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted December 13, 2012 @chef23 - Stradas get way closer together
Baller Chef23 Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 My info is based on seeing other people's set ups not skiing on it as I am a RTP guy. I have seen Wiley rears with the toes right up on the back of the front binding but maybe they modded the rear. The double Stradas I have seen don't seem to get the toes that close. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted December 13, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted December 13, 2012 if your stradas are on a sequence plate, you can space the rear boot back, or push it into the front boot, depending on which set of holes you use, I think there's 5 to choose from
Baller BraceMaker Posted December 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted December 13, 2012 @Chef23 - you definately can get them there, it just depends on how you fit your bindings. Same with any system. If you take your rear wiley's plate, and go till the plates hit, where your rear toes go is dictated by how long your foot is, the binding is going to be a certain ankle to ankle distance - period. Unless of course you cut the rear binding's plate so that they get closer together. Ultimately its ankle to ankle position which we never discuss because the ideal is as close as possible - so if the boot can be adjusted any closer - it should be - so with hardshells on single plates, you often have the ability to rotate/slide the rear boot forwards to adjust the Ankle to ankle closer than comprable wileys. Not always though.
Baller SkiOrDie Posted April 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted April 24, 2013 Does running a rtp change the stock binding settings on a 67 Vice? Or is it still 29.5?
Baller A_B Posted April 24, 2013 Baller Share Posted April 24, 2013 Never heard of that causing a front binding change. The only one I have ever heard of is Hardshells sometimes needing a change in placement.
