Twitter Politics

@Ed I apologize that could have been me. I am an Inernational Affairs major and from time to time I get into the mood to tweet what I see about current events while sitting in class, but I try my best to keep national politics off twitter and other social media as a personal rule.

We will do our best to keep the feed clean but, I can't control what others post on their personal social media outlets. The tweets scroll by so quickly that a tweet may only be on the side if the site for a minute or two.

Wasn't you Matt, it was someone named gilb41. Never noticed them posting here before and I hardly ever look at the Tweeter stuff, it was just too obvious (and in fact it's still there). Everyone has their right to their beliefs; this just ain't the place for it. I learned a long time ago to not discuss politics with anyone you'd like to try get along with. Totally against the positive demeanor of this community. Plenty of places on the Web to argue politics if that's your thing. Take it somewhere else @gilb41, it's not welcome here.

@sunperch @Ed Obermeier & everyone

Ok the Twitter should be way better now. If you see anything that you think is out of line let me know right away.

Just to explain.... what is streamed is up to me. It is automatic so I can miss stuff. Generally I try to only steam ski stuff but real life and opinions happen. The person writing the tweet is sending it to the internet at large.

As I said above next time you see something that you think is out of line just let me know.

@auskier I am sure I could do that. The problem is hash tags are so miss used and miss understood

Yes, I saw it as well. Although I did not find it offensive, this is a waterskiing website and not a political website. However, it really is getting to the point that those folks in Washington can really infringe on our right to do what we love as a group. And that is to ski. So, we must be aware of what is going on politically, individually and collectively. I also believe Horton would not want his site could come under scrutiny from those in DC, hence, a very good reason to keep politics out of this wonderful water ski forum.

I've been following a number of water skiing related people on Twitter for about a year now, and 95% of what they tweet really isn't all that exciting unless you have a burning desire to know how their cats, dogs, kids, BFFs, meals, travel plans, and gripes are doing on an hourly basis.

@SkiJay one of the nuts I can't seem to crack is how to make elite skiers more visible. Maybe even celebrities. Not the Paris Hilton type but the good kind. They are the elite in our sport and I think they should be promoted as such. The twitter feed is one way to raise their profile. It should be good for them and their sponsors.

I don't get the whole Tweeter concept. Who really cares what I'm thinking or doing at any specific time? Why would I even want anyone else to know? Anybody REALLY want to know what I'm thinking right now??

(I'm sensing a huge chorus of NO's being collectively shouted at computer screens across the world right now...). :>)

@Ed Twitter is a micro blog. Think if you had to sit down and write a log each night of your thoughts. That take time and way to much thinking. Trust me I have tried it. If you can send your micro posts out when you think of it. You are saved the time and hassle of doing a real blog
