Baller Brady Posted November 9, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 9, 2012 Hey guys, seeing as how winter is fully upon us....at least in Utah, and seeing as how if I can stand the pain, I can resume activities, I went ahead and ordered the Insanity dvd collection from the Internet. Upon its arrival, I plan on spending the next 60 days killing myself off so that I can look and feel how I should on the balls. In my humble opinion, to me the real definition of Insanity is staying fat and not being able to fully do what my passion truly is! So, I am asking for those of you who would like, to join in with me and kick some ass this winter fitness wise. I am planning on posting before and after pics, and I think this would be something fun to do thru the dismal winter months. I don't even care if you all do a different program. Let's see the before and afters and make it so when spring comes, we knock the buoys and our wives out!!!
ToddF
Starting with handstand pushups and a camera is a good place. :) One thing I still do and reccomend is sprinting. I usually go out a mile or so restretch and then 6-8 sprints. Only about 60-80 meters, then finish my run a couple more miles. If you can handle it sprinting is the best exercise for overall atheticism and fitness.
Baller Chef23 Posted November 9, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 9, 2012 After about 9 months I still can't do a handstand pushup. I can't even get myself up on the wall without help. Once there I can hold it for almost a minute but I never realized how hard handstands are.
Baller rayn Posted November 9, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 9, 2012 Lucky for me it is getting easier to push @chef23 legs against the wall. As they say he is pretty agile for a big man(getting smaller every day)
Baller 6balls Posted November 10, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 10, 2012 @brady, I think you should take your "before pic", drink beer all winter and then photo-shop your head onto @razorskier1's body for the "after" shot and call it good. Baller MattP Posted November 10, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 10, 2012 @ToddF I do not agree with that statement.

Baller ForrestGump Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 Hand stand pushups are awesome. I typically do 3 sets of 10 every other day. I'm working now on kicking up into a handstand without a wall now.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 @Brady - I'm with you man! Starting my fourth week of P90X tomorrow! Have lost some inches and increased strength already! Killed legs and back yesterday by cranking out 107 pullups. The best for me by far. Will have to get some pics. A good way to keep is accountable.
Baller gregy Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 @mattp I accidentally disliked yours and ToddF's post with my phone. Can I remove that?
Baller Brady Posted November 12, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 @gregy. Yes you can. Simply hit the dislike again, with your phone or your computer, and it will come off. Hope that helps!
Baller estrom Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 @shaneh, I got to play golf on several occasions with Jimmy Payne, the world record holder for hand stand pushups. I think he did something like 52 of them. Super nice guy. He was still doing them well into his 60's.
Baller estrom Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 By the way, he did them "freestyle" too...no using a wall.
Baller Chef23 Posted November 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2012 I got onto the wall about 8-9 times in three sets of 10 tries. I only almost crashed on my head once. I think it is harder when you have 210 lbs up in the air. I would say that for me trying to learn how to do a handstand at 46 years old is a definition of insanity. Baller jipster43 Posted November 14, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 14, 2012 @Brady These sorta' things make the winter go by so much quicker. I look forward to charting your progress and seeing you crush the course next season. I'm a little less interested in how you look when you're "on the balls"! Baller ForrestGump Posted November 14, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 14, 2012 @estrom I'm still working on learning to do em freestyle. So far, I've crashed and burned mostly. lol
ToddF
@shaneh Freestanding takes some serious core strength and balance. Try them using push up bars you can use your wrists more for stabilization. i would say it makes them much easier, but I would be lying.
Baller estrom Posted November 15, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2012 @ToddF, are you talking about bars that look like the bars on top of a pummel horse? That's how Payne used to do it.
ToddF
@estrom Yes, Like the parallel bars or the pommel horse, the new skinny ones you see at the gym aren't very stable a fatter handle works better, for me at least.

Baller ForrestGump Posted November 15, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2012 I didn't think of trying em that way. I fell on my hip today and will be limping for a bit. lol I'm determined to do em straight up, no wall. That should impress the senoritas.

Baller Brady Posted November 19, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted November 19, 2012 What does it tell you that I get worn out and want to puke during the damn warm-up phase of these workouts? I am either far more out of shape than I thought, or this program is kicking the shit out of me!!! I never want to look at a twinkie again--the back end price is far too much!! Baller Skoot1123 Posted November 20, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 20, 2012 @brady - Week 5 of P90X started yesterday. Noticing some good difference's. Lots of pushups and pull ups. One of my fave's yesterday: plyo pushups. Nothing like getting airborne during a pushup! :D
