boarditup
I am in Tampa for a few days. Any Ballers in the Tampa area?

boarditup
I called McCormicks but they did not have anything I could rent so ski on. The biggest binding was a large and the biggest ski was a 67. It would not even come close to my size 14 and 240 lbs. I guess most male slalom skiers weigh about 175 and have a size 8-10 foot. klindy
@boarditup take your own ski with. Not too big of a hassle to drag it along.
boarditup
I thought about it. United wanted $100 each way and then having to deal with potential damage for just a set or two - it was not worth it. I thought they would have a fully equipped pro shop for rentals, but I was wrong. From a size perspective, I am in the top 4% of the US population, so I guess I cannot complain to much. I am non-standard for slalom skiers as well.
Members Bdecker
Are there any buoys south of Tampa? We are in Venice often but I have only managed a trip to McCormicks once as it is a bit of a drive. Would love to find something closer but have never been successful... headed down there in a couple weeks
Baller Dirt Posted November 7, 2012 Baller Share Posted November 7, 2012 @boarditup I think ski equipment is only $25 or $35 each way (depending on whether it is your 1st or 2nd checked bag) on United. I flew to Nationals on that airline. You have to stay under 50 pounds and can only put skis and bindings in the ski bag/tube. http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/baggage/sports.aspx
The_MS
"I thought about it. United wanted $100 each way" It used to be free until Horton scammed UA for a new Nano 1 on the way back from Orlando.
boarditup
Since it was over the length spec, it was $100 each way. My ski is a 69" and in the carrier, it is about 75" overall. It was a soaking that I did not want to take for just a couple of sets.
