Baller rodltg2 Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 Awhile back coming home from my club I noticed a tree line very indicative of a ski lake. I looked it up on google earth and it apperars it may be a ski lake. Its a bit odd, and short but has the potential. I don't know why I care, just curious I guess. 38°49'6.94"N 121°28'33.11"W
Baller jimbrake Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 Might be. Looks like a tournament boat parked by the barn. Check out: 38.829359°, -121.464445, which is just northeast of the lake you were asking about. Two dry lakes just south of Pleasant Oak. I wonder who dug those then never filled them? If you could buy that land there're two lakes just waiting to be filled, unless of course there is no water supply, or the lakes leak, or they don't have a use permit, or..... Baller andjules Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 and another site maybe 2 miles straight north of the first one. You can see the slalom course & a boat. Geez! And another about another 2 miles north, with a ramp... is that the club?
Baller rodltg2 Posted September 4, 2012 Author Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 @andjules, the first one 2mi morth is where I ski, the next one up you saw is Liquid Zone. If you go to the west there is two more within a few miles as well. We have lots in Sacramento area.
Baller jcamp Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 I kept going way north and found what is possibly the sweetest ski home in the country. 39.687455,-121.789834
Baller schroed Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 @jcamp, that's skylake in Chico. The house at the west side of the lake is for sale if you want to move there. Here's the one I've been wondering about: 38.925705 , -121.424299 . Who's lake is that?
Baller bishop8950 Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 Jim, those 2 empty lakes used to have water in them. The google pics from ~2005 showed water, not sure what happened. The mystery lake rodltg2 found looks like they ski on it, but it must be short. Measures ~1,600ft
Baller jimbrake Posted September 4, 2012 Baller Share Posted September 4, 2012 @schroed - that is the Zmerzel lake. Was built in the '90s by Bill and Diane Zmerzel owners of BZ plumbing. Unfortunately they aren't together anymore, but I think she may still live at the lake. I skied there a lot with Bill and Pat Kennelly in the early 00's.
