kfennell
Boat: 2012 Carbon Pro The other day when driving jump I pulled a hard 180 at ~30 mph because the skiier was having a yard sale on a 120+ ft jump. After I got back driving again I notice that there is a couple of hitches in the steering. When I turn to the left and then straighten up there will be two distinct "pops" in the steering where it feels like the cable is catching on something and releasing. It doesnt happen at super slow speeds (< 5 mph) or above 32 mph. But around 24 mph like when you are driving the jumpers back down the lake it is pretty brutal. Is there an easy fix for this or something I can look at or am I adding a new steering cable to the list when I bring the boat in this winter? boarditup
Check both rack (under dash) and linkage (to rudder). Both could produce those symptoms. Rudder linkage could be loose, rack could be loose, or bent. Sounds mechanical, so a fix should be a few turns of a wrench - even if it is the cable.
