Triplett
I am surprised no one has put this on the forum yet. What do you guys think about this? Are you all going to call and order right away or is it just a marketing thing to sell a few more skis? I am sort of surprised. It is outdated and pretty much the same shape as far as I can tell as the 9900.
ScaredOfCorbets
The 9100 'should' be more structurally sounded, because of the two ribs on the top sheets. All other ones are flat top sheets. And it has 5-Year Limited Warranty.
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 No guarantee that they'll even ski the same as before. Especially if they reused their old 9100 plywood mold boxes. Hopefully, they still had an old mold plug or were able to splash a new mold off of an unused ski.
Baller Than_Bogan Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 While the 9100 was absolutely revolutionary (the last time I picked up 3+ buoys just from a ski change), I think it would be a slightly sub-par ski up against today's best. And yet, I find myself strangely tempted to get one, just because I (like so many others) have such positive memories associated with it. I'm pretty sure in the end I won't, but I can see why he'd re-release it, because I bet the combination of nostalgia and human collector's instinct will sell a few. Baller ForrestGump Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 I've got a 9100 sitting in my closet. It's a dog compared to the skis we have now days.
Chef23
How much is it going to sell for. It says the same price as it originally sold for but I don't know what that was.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 @Chef23 I think I paid $1,100 for my 9100 with powershells back in the day?
Baller MJE Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 Looks like it's selling for $
Skihack
I am curious as to why Dave is bringing this ski back. Isn't the Razor built from a 9100 mold? At $990, I do not think many will be sold.
Chef23
@MJE sounds like a lot of money for a design that is 16 years old. I never skied on one though so I don't have any basis for comparison.
Skihack
Maybe it was a 9100 Jeff Rodgers broke the record on last weekend at Little Mountain.
GAJ0004
Maybe he is testing to see if there will be a market for intermediate level skis. I think it may be trend in the industry. The sport is getting too expensive for most people to afford. Maybe the ski companies are looking to add lower price products. HO brought back the MacH 1 which was their top of the line at one time. If I were married and had a family I guarantee I would no longer be water skiing. If you go to some of the local lakes near where I ski, Conneaut Lake, and Shenango reservour all you see now is tubers and jet skis. People's(non tournament skiers) jaws drop when I tell them what I paid for my D3 Nomad RCX. I will probably ski on it for 7-8 seasons which is what I usually get out of a ski. Maybe the boat companies will do something similar. A Ski Nautique with the 1997-1999 hull with a 1994-1996 dash and deck would be awesome.. Chef23
Goode already has the Fire family which is in the same price range.
Baller jackski Posted June 6, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2012 I've still have my original 9100 with "low miles" on it. It would be hard to step back to rubber bindings though.
KM
I remember paying $690 (not $990) for my original 9100. $890 for my 9500 and $990 for my 9700.
Baller scuppers Posted June 7, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2012 @KM Yea those are the amounts I remember as well.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 7, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2012 I sold my 9100 for $200 a couple of years ago, after getting a Nomad. The 9100 was awesome when it came out, but to release it now for almost a $G? I don't get it? I would think a Fire would be much better option? Will they include bindings in the price for the new 9100? I'd think they'd have to for that kind of scratch.
