Taelan28
When my technique was atrocious my legs, back between the shoulder blades would be shredded, my the callus pads on my hands needed to be cut off, and my left knee would be weak. Now that my technique is a lot better (I use one hand now!) and I dont use my back leg to initiate the turn the most pained part of my body is the calluses and blisters on my hands, even with the gloves I got blisters on top of blisters. Chef23
For me it is none of those but a spot on my mid back.
Baller Than_Bogan Posted June 2, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 2, 2012 Why do people, including Baller One himself, keep leaving abs off these polls? Now that I'm so focused on handle control, it's really where most of the action is. Btw, get yourself some kevlar inserts to dramatically reduce blistering. The best ones I've found are called "Underware Ultra" (not kidding) and are usually marketed to (motor) bike racers. Quick web search dug 'em up for sale here: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/2/28592/ITEM/PC-Racing-UnderWARE-Ultra-Glove-Liner.aspx
Chef23
I went to clinchers to help out with the blisters.
Baller rayn Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 Graingers has the same liners for less than half the price
Taelan28
I already use similar liners and i still get blisters. Ive changes the way i hold the rope more towarda the fingers and its reducex them.
Baller 6balls Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 Agree with @chef23 in that clinchers really help as do the now masterline pro-locks. I wear straight line palm pads under them and almost never have a problem.
Baller skibug Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 @Than Bogan, you can get the same gloves for about $2 a pair from Grainger or EnviroSafety (the link is just one example): http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/kevlar-glove-liner.html They are made by Memphis Glove, there are a few different grades of thickness to choose from as well I actually use the thin liners and straight line palm savers under my Masterline Pro Locks...not a single blister since I went to this about a year ago. Baller Than_Bogan Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 I found the Ultras to last significantly longer (2-3x) than other inserts that I had tried, and in the grand scheme of water skiing, these things cost nothing anyhow. But obviously I haven't tried every brand.
Baller JC McCavit Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 My elbows start to hurt after a few sets. Maybe elbows should be a poll choice.
Members jipster43
My back used to hobble me after a couple of sets, but since I've begun a serious stretch/warm up program, it has been a non-issue. Knock on wood!
Onside135
What is an excessive day of skiing?
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted June 3, 2012 Baller Share Posted June 3, 2012 While I believe the importance of proper stretching is important before skiing, I have found that stretching "AFTER" skiing is Very Important as to how you will feel later and the next day.
