jonesy54
I'm in the process of restoring an old Cypress Gardens Lil Monster (I leared to ski on that ski). And i have it all sanded down and smoothed out and the physically the wood is repaired. Now that I am ready to refinish the wood, what kinds of wood did Cypress Gardens make skis of? This ski is made of pieces, with the middle piece being lighter than the outer ones. Anybody been down this road before?
Baller MattP Posted May 31, 2012 Baller Share Posted May 31, 2012 I will give you a heads up if you want to ski on it again, give it a careful inspection. If there is any place you see the ski delaminating do not ski on it. They can blow up under you when you hit the wake. Or at least take video for our enjoyment. jonesy54
you mean longways along the joints between the different boards? The ski was already split along one of those joints and the other was just starting to coe apart when I started working on it. It's been repaired with biscuit joints and some good waterproof wood glue. My dad happened to be the (un)lucky victim who was on it when it decided to come apart. Either way I doubt it will ever really get skied on much again.
