jipster43
I just bought a Goode Fire (Thanks Ski-It-Again!), and the previous owner had drilled the ski for D3 binders. Is there a recommended epoxy or lock tight for re-installation of screws and for filling the unused holes? Thanks!
jipster43
I'm sure it depends on the epoxy used, but is there any way I can mount it today and ski it today?
Chef23
There is 5 minute epoxy. It isn't quite as strong as the 24 hour cure but it should do the job.
Baller MJE Posted May 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted May 11, 2012 I'd use JB Welb Marine Weld. Won't be able to ski today though. http://www.jbweld.net/products/marine.php
jipster43
@Chef23 @MJE Thanks fellas! Now here's a stupid question. How much do I apply per screw and do I let it cure and then install screws or do I install screws when it is wet?
Baller MJE Posted May 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted May 11, 2012 If the screw fits tight in the hole, you can apply a layer to the amount of threads that'll be in the ski and install wet. If the holes are a little big, fill the holes, let it cure, drill a pilot hole, then install the screws.

Baller A_B Posted May 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted May 11, 2012 Actually, if you want to ski ASAP, just put duct tape over them or any waterproof tape. I put silicone in holes before because once they are there, I didnt see a reason to plug them with epoxy, in case they were needed again in the future. It is hard to drill holes in epoxy. If you put epoxy in a plastic bag and cut a small corner off to form a tip, you can squeeze into the hole better. Put electrical tape over the hole and turn ski upside down. You will get a nice flat surface at the top of the hole when tape is removed.
Baller MattP Posted May 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted May 11, 2012 There is no real reason to plug them.. The foam core will not hold or absorb water
