Administrators Horton Posted April 12, 2012 Administrators Share Posted April 12, 2012 One of the bummers about double boots on one plate is measuring the distance from the rear of the ski to the heel of your front foot. Normally you would need to remove the rear binding to get an exact measurement. I had my Strada's apart the other nite so I took a few pictures of my trick. Here I have my back binding off and you can see I am measuring from the back of the front boot exactly 12" http://static-cl1.vanilladev.com/ballofspray.vanillaforums.com/uploads/FileUpload/73/650e98c08dba65b8128088a16cf9b8.jpg http://static-cl1.vanilladev.com/ballofspray.vanillaforums.com/uploads/FileUpload/bf/06046961879b0a931323db7bb12940.jpg At the 12" mark I scratch the plate http://static-cl1.vanilladev.com/ballofspray.vanillaforums.com/uploads/FileUpload/24/fee8d73ffe74928bff7142017381e1.jpg This last photo is with my back binding back on the ski. I am measuring from the scratch. 17 1/2" puts my front binding at 29 1/2" http://static-cl1.vanilladev.com/ballofspray.vanillaforums.com/uploads/FileUpload/1a/bf5d9a12f3d5654b1a4bf2eb464d36.jpg Support BallOfSpray by supporting the companies that support BallOfSpray California Ski Ranch ★ Connelly ★ Denali ★ Goode ★ KD Skis ★ MasterCraft ★ MasterLine ★ PerfSki ★ Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes

Baller JC McCavit Posted April 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted April 12, 2012 I just draw a line 90 degrees from the top lacing behind the front boot across the top of the plate. Just measure from the line to the back of the ski and get exact numbers.
Baller Mateo_Vargas Posted April 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted April 12, 2012 13" back from my size 11 boot is the center of that hole in the plate. I have a narrow tape measure the fits in the hole.
Administrators Horton Posted April 12, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted April 12, 2012 @JC McCavit So you have to measure around the back boot? Also I believe (Eddie please correct) that the bottom stitch is the standard measure point. Baller Mateo_Vargas Posted April 12, 2012 Baller Share Posted April 12, 2012 @Horton wanna picture? I don't know why I tried to help all you double boot guys. As Mapple, Willy and Nate have shown that the RTP will once again rule the world.
eddie_roberts_jr
The bottom line of stitching is what we recommend so that we can all have the same reference point.

Baller A_B Posted April 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted April 13, 2012 I think it is time for a binding measuring tool with a cutout for the back boot, sort of like the EZ Fin tool. :)
Baller teammalibu Posted April 13, 2012 Baller Share Posted April 13, 2012 I drill a small hole in the heel of my back boot. I then slide a 3/16th dia rod that I cut to 12" in through the heel of the rear boot until it touches the front heel and measure from the tail of the ski to the rod and add 12" Presto
Members Steven_Haines
I cut a big gaping hole out of the heel and cut the front of the boot off and run the tape right thru. d:-)>
colo_skier
I use a Penrad1500 xray machine data stream integrated through a logarithmic interpolation to locate the exact end of my foot and then scale the image to.... wait a minute that's what I use for looking inside Halloween candy!!! I like @Hortons method :)

I have been laughing hysterically for 10 minutes. The video of the Panda really caps it off. That's exactly how I felt after reading all the responses. You guys made my day! Sledgehammer
My 5 cents for this discussion. I know it doesn't look perfect on the picture, but it's hard to measure and take pics at the same time. I think this is the easiest and most accurate way of measuring. Baller A_B Posted February 2, 2013 Baller Share Posted February 2, 2013 I am with @Horton on this one. I also put a mark on the back of my plate so all I need to do is measure from the tail to the mark and add... piece of cake. Speaking of cake...
