Whitney ran 1@41 the first round and got the full 2 the second at the Hancock tournament today. Her 39 was incredible.

I have the good fortune to get to ski with and watch Whitney ski every summer at Rini's place. Such a sweetheart, and makes it look way easier than it really is. You go girl!

Many uears ago when she was "little" she skied at a tournament at Pelican Lake in Michigan and took a nasty cartwheel looking fall. She was a little dazed but came back out the next round and skied very well. It was apparent back then she had that drive and fire to be a champion. A lot of other skiers (men included) might have packed it in after a fall like that. It was just a R tourney, no big event.

Whitney does not get the attention she deserves compared to Regina and Karina. I'm not surprised that she is tying the world record, her technique is flawless and she's always made it look easy.

How tall is Whitney? I was surprised to read that Regina is only 5'5".

There goes the "i'm too short" excuse for me not being able to run 39, or 38, or 35 for that matter. Damn!! just when you think you have them all covered.

Whitney is around that 5'8"-5'10" range. She is not the tallest out their though. And I think 5"5" is a stretch for Reggie.

I know that Whitney has trained very hard and is on a mission. Congratulations to Whitney she is a great skier.

Funny thing about Whit is she is so fit that she looks smaller than she is. I thought she was 5'2 & 100 lbs until someone corrected me and made me feel silly.

Whit skis a rock stock 66" Strada, the pink "Whitney" version which is the same flex as the GP yellow.

I feel the women may now be poised to push each other right through -41 in a relatively short timeframe. I'll be rooting for all of them (and being very jealous as well!).

 

I'm gonna be surprised if there is much progress at -43 on the men's side, as I continue to believe the jump in difficulty from -41 to -43 is larger than other gaps. Naturally, I hope I am proven wrong!
