Baller Ilivetoski Posted December 4, 2011 Baller Share Posted December 4, 2011 Ok so are the diffrent GoPro camera only for specific things? Such as if I bought the one that comes with the adhesive to go on my ski would I not be able to use the head strap?
SM
You can get some great go pro stuff here, like an ND and polarizing filter. http://www.eyeofmine.com/
Baller_ Wish Posted December 4, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted December 4, 2011 Believe it or not I found several used on CraigsList in Orlando. 5 all together and several accessories for the GoPro as well. Can't see how used would be bad. They are mostly bullet proof.
Baller Tom351 Posted December 4, 2011 Baller Share Posted December 4, 2011 Definitley use the floaty-backdoor. I had one on my ski using the adhesive mount (as linked above) and while the mount held just fine...the camera broke away at the little tabs on the camera housing where it connects to the mount- I had it leashed to the ski but that just popped instantly as well. This happened on my very first full speed wake crossing and I have not put my replacement on a ski yet (only have used chest-mount and helmet since)- It seems that the wake crossing impact is too much for the way that the housing attaches to the mount...although I have seen others mount on the ski with no problems (I was only skiing 15off/34mph, but maybe the solid 86SN2001 wake did not help). Photo attached...you can see the tabs of the housing are still in the mount.

Chef23
Any reason to buy the newer one for $299 vs the older one for $199?
Baller Ilivetoski Posted December 5, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted December 5, 2011 Ok so now the real question, are these a valuable coaching tool? or just something that you and your friends will use once or twice and then never touch again? Baller_ Wish Posted December 5, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted December 5, 2011 I think steady video from the boat at 1/2 or 1/4 spread is the best way to analyze technique. GoPro makes very cool fun videos that yes you can pick up a few nuances here and there but not a great overall coaching tool IMHO. I still want one though. SM
This is Brent's new GoPro helmet mount complete with night vision. Just in case anybody was wondering why Brent finds GoPro distracting. Sorry Brent, It needed to be posted.
