Inboard sound levels

Does anyone know where I can find the sound levels of the current AWSA approved towboats? I know its part of the AWSA test but I cant find the results. Thanks.

That information as all the AWSA performance results for Towboat testing is propriatory to AWSA and the the towboat company. Tow boat testing is a Pass Fail System so only the Towboat company that is being tested has access to that information.

Waterski Mag used to do a DB evaluation that was part of the write up.

I have done some sound testing for one of the manufacturers. I don't know if the others do it too but if they are building boats to go to Europe they must. If you need to know check with their engineering departments. They will know numbers for their boats.

 

I think the upper limit is around 75db. Tests are specific to engines and installed exhaust systems so if you have a target number you might need something other than a stock US configuration.

I was thinking it was 72 db for the Swiss sound tests but it may have been 75db I don't remember for sure.

 

@ral, yes nothing like a straight piped V8 to make the neighbors love you at 6am haha.
