Nick Sullivan
http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&postid=15472 What the heck is a 176? 17ft, 6 inch slalom boat? Never heard of this little guy.
Baller jdarwin Posted June 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 29, 2011 Made for one year in 1996. Hull was the same as the 1997 but shorter. Sold for $17,995 (no trailer). Typically had a carbed 351 but I had a friend who had a GT-40 in his - rocket! Awesome skiing boat. Just not much room for friends/family.
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 29, 2011 I don't know about 1996, but it was definitely made in 1997 and 1998. In 1998 you could get the 176 as the AirTique also, which had an extended pylon and a rear seat base that would lift up and make a sundeck flush with the gunnel top. Baller jdarwin Posted June 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 29, 2011 Correction "started in 1996". I was a silent partner in a dealership at that time. We sold 6 of those units in 1996 - great slalom boat.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 29, 2011 This boat sort of went head to head against the Sportstar 190, as an entry-level tow boat. It is a little rocket ship, even with the carbed motor. Ironically, I just saw one towed by my house about a week ago, after not seeing one for years. grab2go
A friend of mine still has his '96 with the GT-40. It came from the factor with a tiny cast bronze rudder. Wouldn't spin and would barely turn. He complained and the factory sent him a fabricated stainless rudder that was a little bigger. It helped, but the boat still wouldn't turn as well as the 196. He pulled it off and welded a couple more inches of plate to the bottom of the rudder. That solved the problem. It runs great. You have to stear it a little more with big skiers, but it's a sweet little boat. Not hard on fuel either...
Baller behindpropellers Posted June 29, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 29, 2011 I own a 1996 176, they were made from 96-99. It has GT40 heads and an Acme 470 prop. I can deep up 5 barefooters and pull them @ 37.5 MPH. I pulled the rudder port and rudder this spring and put on a 196 rudder. It tracks every bit as good as a 196. Great boat. Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted June 29, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted June 29, 2011 Being part of the devolpment team at CC at the time the 176 was a great and I do mean great slalom boat. One of the problems was that it was to good with a 11-a rudder and a GT-40. The powers to be at the time asked us to difuse the little boat as they wanted just that a entry level boat that was not quite up to par as their Ski Nautique. The 176 also was the first computor adided designed boat for Correct Craft. It was as wide as a Ski Nautique and tracked in the slalom course even with a deep shortline skier as good as their SN provided it had a 11-a rudder under it. we actually built a number of these little boats and those that have them swear by their performance and love the boat. Ron Scarpa used one for his barefoot school for many years.

Baller_ Wish Posted June 29, 2011 Baller_ Share Posted June 29, 2011 Wow! Jody. Did not know that. Just thought it was an entry level boat. So what is an 11 rudder?

Baller RAWSki Posted August 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2020 Interesting thread..... Thought I would ask if anyone can ID this correct craft boat? I have never seen a rear end on a Nautique like this before.
Baller Ronny61 Posted August 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2020 Possibly a 92 Sport Nautique?
Baller Orlando76 Posted August 21, 2020 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2020 That’s the Fugly Nautique, also known as an 89-92 Sport Nautique. Being a fan of old school small and nimble ski boats. The 176 has been on my bucket list for years.
jchart51
I have CC Nautique 176 for sale. Currently in Auburn, PA https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=58224
Baller thager Posted October 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2020 @Orlando76 I think the new Nautique has retaken that title!
Baller 75Tique Posted October 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2020 @thager Yup. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think the 200 is roughly a billion times better looking boat than the SN. I'm sure they could put all the function of a SN into a
