Baller Stevie Boy Posted June 6, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2011 Balls and double Balls, I am plagued by poor onside turn, getting in deep and falling in on the back of the ski, end up with either short pull or too much speed, lose out on angle as well, any tips to overcome this problem, its crucifying my slalom, my turn in for the gate, feels good, plenty of angle, I just cannot replicate it at 2 &
Jim Neely
I have a similar tendency. Try turning by dropping your hip toward the ball. Also, adding a little depth to your fin will also help.
Baller skibug Posted June 6, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 6, 2011 I have the same problem sometimes and it tends to be lack of concentration. I think we get complacent that it is our on side turn and we should be able to turn it without issue. I find that I have to be more patient and actually think about counter rotation. Not necessarily more counter rotation; but, delaying my reach back to the handle. I also think about dropping in with the hip and driving cross course with the knees. In my head I say to myself at every 2 - 4 turn "keep the ski moving"
jwroblew
I too had an inconsistent 2 / 4 onside turn, tried everything at the ball to fix it. What ended up working for me was concentrating how I come out of 1 / 3, level shoulders and open to the boat helped my edge change become more smooth and fixed my hips back. Baller Stevie Boy Posted June 8, 2011 Author Baller Share Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks Guy,s your comments really helped also, trying to stand tall into the bouy, someone else noticed, I was going over the top with my free hand, instead of bringing the handle in and placing my free hand on. Baller Than_Bogan Posted June 8, 2011 Baller Share Posted June 8, 2011 Whenever I start blowing my onside turn (which is somewhat frequent!), I concentrate on holding my off-side pull position better and especially on handle control coming into the ball. This fixes it right up. I always find my actual mistake occured a little before the symptom.
