rodltg2
I saw this on another forum, looks cool. What about an aluminum ski boat?? Talk about lightweight? http://pavatimarine.com/wakeboard_and_ski_boats/wakeboard_boats.html

kona
So you can add more weight!  Atleast it won't rust http://www.ballofspray.com/vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif
Baller Than_Bogan Posted September 30, 2010 Baller Share Posted September 30, 2010 I'm no material scientist, but I though carbon fiber was much lighter (for the same strength) as aluminum? I have no clue why lightweight would be desirable for WAKEBOARDING. But I'd be very interested because the slalom wakes at low speeds (e.g. for kids) should be far better on a boat that is much lighter. Trick skiers might hate it, though! Baller skibug Posted September 30, 2010 Baller Share Posted September 30, 2010 If you use the right hydrodynamics; a light weight but well designed hull could get you the same desired wake profile without all the weight. Hence, cheaper, lighter, less gas, etc.
Baller Than_Bogan Posted September 30, 2010 Baller Share Posted September 30, 2010 Fuel efficiency is indeed a HUGE one that is relevant to all boaters. Good point.
Baller A_B Posted October 1, 2010 Baller Share Posted October 1, 2010 My first ski boat was a 14' aluminum Starcraft with 33 hp evinrude, then upgraded to a 50hp Merc. Talk about no wake.
