Can someone point me to a good discussion on Handle sizes?

I am thinking that me and my tiny handed wife should be using different handles since there is no way that the same one is ideal for us both. Is there a good article or forum post that outlines how to choose a handle size? I am thinking that the most comfortable one will be the biggest one that you can easily grab, but how do you choose 12-13" and what are the advantages of each.

Thanks

Kevin

I do not think this is that hard. Everyone uses what is comfy. I use a 1" x 12". Bigger diameter handles are easy on hands but hard on forearms. Small ... the other way around. Ladys like 1" or smaller I think.

I don't think you'll find there is any "advantage" to any handle dimensions.  It's just a question of what feels comfortable.

I don't like 13" handles, because I find myself grabbing off-center too often, which is very distracting to me.  But the risk of a 12" handle is missing completely.  I take that risk because it's more comfortable most of the time.

I get a better grip with a relatively small diameter handle, and even more so if it's slightly elliptical (which isn't that easy to find anymore).  Larger diameter handles make me feel fatigued in my hands/arms very quickly.

Bottom line is simply try out a few.  Unlike some things, I think you can tell pretty easily from 1 set if you are comfortable with a handle.  Just make sure to break it in a bit -- I recommend rubbing mud all over it.  <Insert amusing sexual reference here.>

I have fairly broad shoulders so I like a wider handle. I ski with Masterline ProLocks and they seem to work better with a smaller handle I ski with a 1.0 diameter. I tried a bigger handle to protect my hands and I did strain my forearm with it. I find the combination of the ProLocks and the smaller handle to be good hand protection and feel.

I also tried a radius handle and didn't notice a big difference with it. I could ski with it with no problem but I usually use the standard straight handle.
