releaseable front highwrap rear

Can someone explain the thinking behind a releaseable front binding(Revo, reflex,etc) and a high wrap(animal,wiley) back binding?

I think some people don't like the rigidity of a hard releasable rear.  I know a number of pro skiers use some combination of a hard front and releasable rear.

I would have to agree. I utilize a RS-1 front and a D-3 High wrap rear, the rear is loose around the heal yet supportive on the ankle. I dont cinch it down this alows from some rear heal movement from side to side. World overall Champion Javier Julio utilizes almost the same set up as what I use. I know the Radar is more of a hybrid but it is still not  a typical hiwrap.
