Baller eleeski Posted March 10, 2010 Baller Share Posted March 10, 2010 I got to see this new boat today. It is supposed to have tiny wakes. Maybe it could be the next slalom specialty boat?http://transonichullcompany.com/index1.htmlThe coolest feature was the gyro controlled trim tabs. It enhanced stability and minimized the wake. AWSA does not allow trim tabs. This is a mistake. With active trim tabs we could have a great trick wake and a tiny slalom wake. Plus a steadier pull.Technology is cool.Eric
Baller auskier Posted March 11, 2010 Baller Share Posted March 11, 2010 hydrogate isnt a trim tab?
Baller DW Posted March 11, 2010 Baller Share Posted March 11, 2010 In any racing series, the hydrogate would be defined as an adjustable aerodynamic, or in this case hydrodynamic, device. It is the same thing as a gurney flap on a wing. Cool stuff, not much skiable water in the pics though! Baller RichardDoane Posted March 11, 2010 Baller Share Posted March 11, 2010 since the hydrogate is either up or down (non-adjustable) it's not considered a trim tab
Members Ed_Obermeier
My previous boat was a 2000 Supra Legacy (open bow Comp basically). It had a hydraulically adjustable wake plate on it, which was a really helpful feature IF you knew how to use it (a lot of Supra owners didn't know how to optimize wake properly with the wake plate, anyway). The boat was AWSA Approved, said so right on the side of the hull... (and in the paperwork that came with it as well as WSM's buyers guide that year, for whatever that's worth). It had an actively adjustable trim tab yet AWSA approved it for tournament use. What up with that?Ed
