I noticed today that D3 is has documented Distance From Tail (DFT)  for both measure methods. http://www.d3skis.com/buy/ski_setup.htm  I wish the rest of the industry would follow this example.

It may not be perfect but it is a really good step in the right direction. My guess is the diff is more method then tool.

I think there may be something to it, as I saw this a Schnitz's site

A friend of mine Earl Mayhew has invented a way to calibrate your caliper so you can get an accurate FORWARD-BACK measurement from one caliper to another.  Stay tuned for the article.
