07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data http://www.ezboard.com/image/cscicon3.gif John Taylor Horton A lot of folks are asking for the fin and binding data from the 07 test. I was waiting for the next issue of WSM to come out with some fin and binding stuff I wrote but I will “try” to publish something soon.

Re: 07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data http://www.ezboard.com/image/cscicon3.gif John Taylor Horton While I am at it here is the Set up sheet for most of the skis. The F1 is not on here because we used the data right off the Connelly web site

StockSettings.doc

Please note that some of the settings have been translated from one method it another. We tried to use the D3 methods as much as possible. see:D3 Methods

07FinMethods.htm

After I see the issue I will . . . do something with all of this.

Re: 07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data RTTS Gotta love MS's facial expressions in the pics. No anger management issues there!! J/K

John you have a great description of different ways to measure the fin. My question is Monza specific. Since it has the rails on the tail do you end up tilting the calipers down flush against the sloping rail ends or do are you holding the caliper level in relation to the ski? I use method #4 since it seems to be more accurate than using the head and dealing with the sloping rails. I found a decent DFT and then use #4 to measure changes from there.

Re: 07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data http://www.ezboard.com/image/cscicon3.gif John Taylor Horton The problem is that #4 is totally non-standard. It might be great for your note book but not for any data exchange.

Re: 07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data RTTS Right, BUT ...

(I'll try to phrase this a little more clearly, obviously my writing skills aren't up to the std for the 2008 ski tests)

... is the caliper head held parallel to the ski bottom or pressed down at an angle against the sloping rail to get the measurements?

Also the angle of the trailing edge of the fin is not 90 degrees to the bottom of the ski on my Redim Test blade so that throws in another variable. Who designed those anyway?

Re: 07 SKi Test Fin and Binding Data Brent Mc John Thanks, i've been using #5 & have to admit that it has always sorta been a ball park method on my Monza. I'll try#3 & see how that goes.

Always parallel to the ski bottom

As for the ReDim: it is not that far from 90 so just try to be consistant. Yea I know it is not perfect, but does it ski good?

Did not see it in May Issue? Brent Mc John

I hope my early post of the link on Nicholl's did not have anything to do with your article not being in the May Issue. It is a great fin setting standard! I think I owe you more then a few rounds.

Calling me a knuckle head was being too kind.
