If you tried to dream up the wildest craziest thing a human could ever do on skis, JT Holmes has probably already done it.
In this Part 1 of a two part series, we take you through the years of JT’s life starting at a 14 yr old snot-nosed kid with a mouth full of braces, and finishing with a 29 yr old pushing the limits of what was considered humanly possible.
Through the sport of water skiing, JT and I have become friends. He grew up water skiing at High Sierra Water Ski School and has always made time in his off season to spend mornings on the water. JT and Shane McConkey made an impression on my own life over the past decade, long before I ever knew JT. Getting to tell a bit of JT’s story in a FlowPointTV episode, as well as share his passion for water skiing and lake life, was a rad opportunity.

Here’s how Will suggests heat molding your liner for the best fit:
1. Set Oven on Convectoin Mode at roughly 220 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Make a tinfoil wrap so the liner isnt touching the oven grates and place liner in once oven is preheated
3. Cook liner for ~10-12 minutes
4. Apply a thin dress sock to your foot to protect against heat while not adding much volume
5. Remove from oven, quickly apply to foot and strap velcro top strap snugly.
6. Put linered foot into shell, being mindful not to catch the inner-ears of the shell with your heel.
7. Stand up to assure snug fit. Assure that there are no creases in the top of the liner. Latch middle buckle first (tight setting), followed by the buckle nearest to toe and lastly top buckle. Make sure it is on a very tight setting (on buckle ladder) to reduce volume of liner in future use. This should feel tighter than you would use while skiing.
8. Wear on foot for 10-12 minutes until liner cools. Remove and you’re done. Go ski!

Her husband, Marston, works for CrossFit Media, was an Olympic hopeful, and is the most funny least assuming person you’ll ever meet. Tommy Marquez is producer for CrossFit Media, a host on the CrossFit Games update shows and a wealth of knowledge and wisdom.

Italian Pro Skier and Sports Psychology PhD Student Matteo Luzzeri is my guest this week, and we get to talk about some pretty sweet stuff. Mainly, stuff that not only applies to sports (water skiing and others) but also to life.
We get to talk about youth and teen skiing (and sports in general) and maybe some of the things you can do as a child (and parent) to stay stoked on life and keep from getting burned out. We want people to stay in water sports for life, so we cover some things that might help kids and parents keep things from getting too serious, too early on.
Matteo is smart, much smarter than I am…but he has a great ability to keep complex concepts simple, so everyone can understand.
So, he may end up being our “FlowPoint Professor” and we might have him on here every couple months.
